About Dr Sagoo
Dr Ravjit Singh Sagoo (MBChB, MSc, FRCR, MRCS, EBIR) graduated from the University of Birmingham Medical School (UK) in 2006 before completing residency and subspecialisation in vascular and interventional radiology in Birmingham, UK, in 2017. He is a fellow of the Royal College of Radiologists (FRCR), member of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (MRCS), member of the British Society of Interventional Radiologists (BSIR) and the Cardiovascular and Interventional Radiology Society of Europe (CIRSE).
Dr Sagoo specialises in vascular and interventional radiology (or ‘image guided surgery’) which allows treatment of a wide variety of conditions using extremely minimally invasive techniques under image guidance (which would have traditionally required open surgery). This results in quicker recovery, lower rates of complications and overall greater patient satisfaction. Dr Sagoo’s main area of interest and expertise lies in the minimally invasive treatment of uterine fibroids, adenomyosis, varicoceles, enlarged prostates, and liver cancer via embolization. He also offers other procedures including the insertion of chemoports/portacaths and PICC lines, and image guided biopsies and drainages.
Dr Sagoo regularly participates in teaching and research, having published numerous papers in scientific journals and has presented at medical conferences nationally and internationally. After 17 years in the United Kingdom (including spending time as a consultant interventional radiologist at the University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust) Dr Sagoo returned home to Nairobi, Kenya in 2018 where he has been instrumental in developing interventional radiology services in the region as Assistant Professor and Section Head of Interventional Radiology at the Aga Khan University Hospital, Nairobi.
